The Hollywood Police Department is pleased to announce a new initiative in crime prevention and investigation.  The “TIP411” program is a cellular text messaging program, which allows the public to provide the police department with crime tips anonymously, via a secure web site from their cellular telephone.

This 100% anonymous, easy to use program allows cellular users to forward crime tips, by simply texting to “TIP411” (847411) and in the the text field first entering “HPD”, followed by their tip.  See example below

The information is received at a desktop PC at Hollywood’s 911 Public Safety Communications Center.   Monitored 24/7, the information is then forwarded to the appropriate Division for follow-up investigation.  The TIP411 program is not intended to replace the 911 telephone system for reporting in-progess incidents.  The Department hopes TIP411 this will encourage the youth of our community to become more involved in crime reporting.

This is yet another innovative technological advancement the Hollywood Police Department is deploying, that partners with our community, to make Hollywood a safer place to live, work and play.
