The Hollywood Police Department has creating partnerships with our community. The Department has assigned a Neighborhood Team Leader (NTL) to each of ten areas of the city to work in conjunction with that area's Crime Watch organization(s), homeowner's association(s) and City Commissioner(s) to identify and resolve the problems and concerns of our residents and visitors.

The map below shows the NTL zones (outlined in black) and City Commissioner Districts (color coordinated to the commissioner list in the upper left hand corner). A map of the Crime Watch boundaries is available on the Crime Watch Page.

The Hollywood Police Department's Community Oriented Policing Division consists of the Patrol Section and the Special Operations Section. The City is divided into ten areas that are each assigned a liaison Police Officer referred to as a Neighborhood Team Leader (NTL). The NTL works specifically in that area and is knowledgeable about the issues that concern the residents.

  • Neighborhood Team Leaders - NTL's work full-time in each neighborhood to identify and resolve problems. The NTL's work closely with the Patrol Officers assigned to the area so problems can be addressed on a 24 hour basis. To the specific areas shown on the map above and a list of the NTL Officers' emails, see our NTL Assignments Page.

  • Patrol Section - Handles the majority of the calls coming into the police department as well as working with the Neighborhood Team Leaders to target specific problems.

Broadwalk Team Page - The Broadwalk is the paved walkway along Hollywood Beach. The Broadwalk spans from Jefferson Street (on the south end) to North Beach Park at Sheridan Street (on the north end). The bicycle lane that is part of the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk continues north past Sheridan Street alongside of N. Surf Road all the way north to Franklin Street.

Downtown Team Page - The Downtown Entertainment Area of Hollywood from Young Circle, including the surrounding businesses, west to N 21st Avenue, including Hollywood Boulevard, Harrison Street and Tyler Street.

Crime Watch Page - There are twenty separate Crime Watch areas, each with its own coordinator and block captains. The Crime Watch program is outlined by city ordinance and managed in cooperation with the Police Department's Public Affairs Unit.

Additional NTL Activities

The NTL Officers are not just a liaison to the community, these Officers take a very active law enforcement role in their neighborhoods. In areas where traffic enforcement is a primary concern of residents, the NTL Officers conduct traffic enforcement and issue citations as well as working with the Police Department's Traffic and Motors Units to target enforcement efforts to the areas of significant violations. The NTL Officers also strictly enforce order maintenance issues, such as pan-handling, public consumption of alcohol and noise violations.

To ensure public safety, NTL Officers check on the sexual predators and offenders that reside in their assigned neighborhoods. Sexual Predators and offenders are contacted on a monthly or weekly basis, depending on the individual situation; their residence address, contact information, job status and location, and vehicle information is constantly updated and kept on file within the Hollywood Police Department's Predator/Offender database. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) keeps an updated on-line database of Florida's Sexual Predators and Offenders, as well as a database of missing children, wanted criminals and other items of interest. FDLE also has a legal explanation of the difference between a sexual offender and a sexual predator.

Landlord/Tenant classes are hosted on occasion by the Community Policing Division.  These classes are very informative and help landlords deal with problem tenants and teach them how to identify and avoid renting to a potential problem tenant.  At times, class attendance has reached over 200 property owners. These classes are held on a intermittent basis as the need arises, contact the NTL Sergeant below for additional information. Landlords who do not wish to attend the class can still obtain the class information by downloading a copy of our Landlord Tenant handbook from the Landlord/Tenant class page.

The NTL Officers, Crime Suppression Unit and Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics Unit all conduct periodic investigations at convenience stores and bars throughout the City to ensure compliance with alcohol laws regarding the licensing, hours of operation, and legal age requirements of customers and employees.

The Hollywood Police Department believes that reducing Truancy will reduce the crime rate in the City, therefore, Neighborhood Team Leaders and School Resource Officers are assigned to detain and deliver Truants to the Juvenile Intake Facility (JIF) if criteria is met.

Nuisance Abatement:
The Community Policing Division is also responsible for investigating and presenting Nuisance Abatement cases for any place or premises within the City which has been used on more than two occasions within a six-month period as the site of an unlawful sale, manufacture, or delivery of controlled substances, or as the site of prostitution related activity.
