Water Supply Contamination

Some of the first concerns after the attack on the World Trade Center on 9-11-2001 were related to where a terrorist might strike next. Among many potential targets, the nation's water supply facilities were a primary concern.

Immediately following 9-11, the Hollywood Police Department posted Police Officers at the City's water supply locations. These patrols continued until the security at these facilities could be enhanced. The City has since gone to great lengths to secure our water supplies and facilities. Although the possible threat of a terrorist attack on any facility can never be completely eliminated, the City of Hollywood has made every effort to make our water supply facilities as safe and secure as possible; including physical enhancements, such as walls, locks, and fences and active security, such as guards and video surveillance systems.
