As part of the Investigative Services Section, the Family Services Unit is under the command of
Major Allen Siegel and managed by
Lieutenant Mike McKinney. Family Services is comprised of the
Domestic Violence Unit, Child & Elderly Abuse and/or Neglect Unit,
Animal Neglect & Abuse Unit,
School Resource Officers,
Police Athletic League,
Boys & Girls Club, and
Victim Advocates.
Domestic Violence, Child & Elderly Exploitation, Abuse, & Neglect, Animal Neglect
& Abuse
Supervised by Sergeant Cathy Marano, seven (7) full-time Investigators are
responsible for the investigation of all acts of domestic violence,
domestic related stalking, child abuse or neglect, elderly abuse, neglect, and
physical exploitation, missing juveniles, sexual battery with juvenile victims, and animal neglect and abuse cases. Two (2) full-time Victim's Advocates
are responsible for providing
support, information and guidance for victims and witnesses of crimes.

Victim Advocates
Although housed in Family Services, Victim Advocates are available to all crime
victims and witnesses.

School Resource Officers

seven (7) Police Officers provide special services to all public schools within
the City of Hollywood, the G.R.E.A.T. (Gang
Resistance Educations and Training) Program at public middle schools,
the S.A.V.I. (School Anti Violence Initiative) Program, and other youth related

Purpose:

Initiative Highlights
- Assign a School Resource Officer to every public secondary school in Hollywood

What are
some of the activities that make up S.A.V.I.?
The Police
Referral Outreach Program, Youth Mentoring, G.R.E.A.T. Program, Teen Court,
peer counseling, truancy prevention alternative suspension programs as
well as classroom instruction consisting of conflict resolution, cultural
diversity and civic responsibilities.
How is
S.A.V.I. Administered?
SAVI is
administrated by the School Resource Officer at your child's school. These
officers have special training in identifying students that would benefit
most from referral programs or special instruction.

Generally
