| Because drug trafficking is a wide spread
problem, the Hollywood Police Department's Crime Suppression Unit uses
an array of tactics to combat this dilemma. One such tactic is to
target the dealers with buy-bust operations. Undercover Officers
purchase narcotics from street level dealers, and then Officers will make
an arrest. The Unit also conducts reverse drug stings which target
the buyer of the narcotics. Undercover officers, posing as dealers,
will sell narcotics to buyers who are immediately taken into custody.
Officers also establish probable cause and serve search warrants on premises
suspected of dealing narcotics. These tactics have been used with
great success in the past.
