Assistant Chief Granteed started his career with the Hollywood Police Department in 1982 as a Community Service Officer. He served in the Community Relations and Crime Prevention Unit and in the Patrol Division as an Accident Investigator.  In 1983, Assistant Chief Granteed was promoted to Police Officer holding assignments in the Patrol Section, Personnel and Training, and the Beach and Downtown Special Operations Section.  In 1991, he was promoted to Sergeant with assignments in Patrol, Training, Community Relations, the Detective Division, and in Records as Interim Manager.  In 1999, Louis was promoted to Lieutenant and held assignments in the Patrol Division as a Shift Commander, the Criminal Investigations Division, and the Community Oriented Policing Division, Special Operations Section.  He also serves on the Department's Emergency Management Team and is a Member of the Crisis Incident Debriefing Team.  In 2000, Assistant Chief Granteed was promoted to Captain and served as the District 2 and Patrol Commander.  He managed the District 2 Neighborhood Police Teams, the Patrol Section, Field Training, Reserve Program and the Police K-9 Unit.  In 2002, Assistant Chief Granteed was promoted to Major, and managed the Criminal Investigations Division and the Community Oriented Policing Division.  In 2004, Assistant Chief Granteed was promoted to his current position as an Assistant Chief, and is currently overseeing the Administrative Section of the Police Department.

Louie attended the 205th Session of the FBI National Academy, the University of Louisville's Southern Police Institute Strategic Leadership and Management School, graduated from the City of Hollywood Educational Civic Institute, holds a Bachelors Degree of Professional Studies from Barry University and has completed graduate courses at the University of Virginia towards his Masters Degree.  He was also named the Florida Jaycees Outstanding Young Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for the State of Florida and was awarded the "Florida Jaycees Congress of Outstanding Young Floridians" as well as the Hollywood Jaycees Officer of the Year.

Assistant Chief Granteed is an active Member of many civic organizations throughout the City of Hollywood.  Louie has received the Chief's Special Recognition Award, one hundred thirty (130) Letters of Recognition, forty three (43) Departmental Commendations, and awards for Life Saving, Community Involvement, Administrative Excellence, Unit Citation, Marksmanship, Good Conduct, Education, Perfect Attendance, Save Driving, and Wellness.
