Assistant Chief Jones, a native of Brockton Massachusetts
is a law enforcement professional with 24 years of honorable service
with the Hollywood Police Department. He began his law enforcement
career with the Hollywood Police Department in 1983 as a Patrol
Officer. He was promoted to ranks of Sergeant in 1989, Lieutenant in
1993, and Captain in 2000. He was promoted to Major on May 22, 2002
and to Assistant Chief in 2009.
Assistant Chief Jones holds a
Bachelor's Degree from Barry University, and he is a graduate of the
University of Louisville's Southern Police Institute and the Police
Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police.
Assistant Chief Jones
currently oversees the Patrol Bureau.
Assistant Chief Jones’s previous command assignments
included; Division Commander of the Community Oriented Policing
Division, and Executive Major to the Chief of Police where he
commanded the Department’s Professional Standard’s Section, Internal
Affairs Unit, and Accreditation Unit where he successfully led the
Department through the State Law Enforcement Accreditation process.
In 2003, Assistant Chief Jones led the South Broward Regional Field Force
during its participation at the F.T.A.A. conference in Miami.
Assistant Chief Jones is the recipient of numerous Departmental Awards
including: six Community Involvement Awards, two Outstanding Unit
Awards, Administrative Excellence Award, Good Conduct Award, Chief’s
Special Recognition Award, Honor Guard Service Award and numerous
Departmental and citizen commendations. Assistant Chief Jones is a member of the I.A.C.P. and he serves on the Board of Directors for the Broward
County Crime Commission and the Hollywood Police Athletic League.
Assistant Chief Jones supports numerous charitable and civic causes and he
coaches youth sports for the Cooper City Optimists program.
