Assistant
Chief May graduated from McArthur High School in Hollywood in 1972.
He continued his
education attending BCC Central and Florida International
University. Assistant Chief May began his Police career with the Hollywood
Police Department in August 1978. During his career he
has held assignments in Patrol, Special Operations,
Personnel, Training, Criminal
Investigations, Street Crimes, Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics, S.W.A.T
and Internal Affairs. Mark received his first promotion to Sergeant
in August of 1988, was promoted to Lieutenant in July of 2002,
Captain in October of 2005 and attained the position of Acting
Assistant Chief on November 19th, 2007. Mark was officially
promoted to the position of Assistant Chief in March of 2008.
As a Sergeant assigned to the Vice,
Intelligence and Narcotics Unit, Mark was selected as the Florida
Narcotic Officers Association, Detective of the Year in
1997, emanating from the dismantlement of a major LSD organization
spanning the United States. Assistant Chief May has received over 100
internal and external Commendations and Letters of Recognition. In
April of 2003, Assistant Chief May graduated with honors from the North
Carolina State University, Administrative Officers Management
Program.
