Captain Tony Rode started his career with the Hollywood Police
Department in 1979 after graduating Number one in his class at the
Police Academy. During the next eight years, he served in the Patrol
Division, Traffic Homicide Unit, Field Training Unit and the Personnel
Unit.
In 1987, Tony was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. During the next 13
years he was the supervisor of members within the Patrol Division,
Personnel Unit, Field Training Unit, Field Force Unit, and the Criminal Investigations Division, Crimes Against Property Section.
In 2000, Tony was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. During the next
3½ years he was assigned to the Community Oriented Policing Division
and the Public Affairs Unit.
Tony is a graduate of the Command Officers Development Course at the Southern Police Institute in Louisville, Kentucky and holds a Bachelor
of Arts Degree from St. Thomas University.
Tony has received over 100 internal and external awards and letters of
commendations, including Officer of the Month, Officer of the Year,
Chief’s Special Recognition Award, Heroism Award, Outstanding Young
Man of America Award, and he was the first recipient of the
Department’s Life Saving Award.
In 2003, Tony was promoted to Captain continuing his assignment
in the Public Affairs Unit. Captain Rode currently oversees the
Special Operations Section.
