Major Tomas A. Sanchez

Major Sanchez
worked as a Federal Corrections Officer, State Corrections Officer and
served two years of active duty in the U.S. Army, prior to joining the
Hollywood Police Department in 1988,.
He worked as a Detective for two years at the South Broward Drug
Enforcement Unit and one year detached to D.E.A. After his promotion
to Sergeant in 1996, his assignments included Patrol and the Crime
Suppression Team.
Promoted to Lieutenant in 1999, he
held assignments in Patrol and Youth Services.
In 2002, he was promoted to Captain
in command over the Special Operations Section. Major Sanchez also
served on the
S.W.A.T. Team
for four years.
In 2004 he was transferred to command the South Broward Drug
Enforcement Unit (SBDEU). In July 2006, he was reassigned to the
Support Services Division which includes Records, Case Filing, Grants
and Technology projects.
In 2009 he was promoted to Major and returned to the
South Broward Drug Enforcement Unit
(SBDEU).
Major Sanchez holds a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice
Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business
Administration. He is a graduate of the
Southern Police Institute's
Administrative Officers Course in Louisville, Kentucky.
