Major Allen Siegel
Criminal Investigations

 

Major Allen Siegel started his career with the Hollywood Police Department in 1984 as a Community Service Officer. He was promoted to Police Officer in 1985 and was assigned to the Patrol Division, then subsequently to the Street Crimes Unit and Detective Bureau. In 1992, he was promoted to Sergeant, with assignments in the Patrol Division, Community Oriented Policing, the Detective Bureau and the Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics Unit. He also served as a supervisor on the SWAT team. In 1999, he was promoted to Lieutenant and held positions in the Patrol Division, the Crime Suppression Unit and Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics. He also served as the Commander of the SWAT team, the Dignitary Protection team and the Canine Unit. Promoted to Captain in 2002, he served as the Director of the South Broward Drug Enforcement Unit until his promotion to Major in 2009. He currently serves as the Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division, which includes the Detective Bureau, Youth Services and Crime Scene Investigations.

Major Siegel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Studies from Barry University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University. He is a graduate of the 33rd Management College of the Southwestern Law Enforcement Institute at the University of Texas at Dallas. In 2006, Major Siegel attended the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police at Boston University.

Selected as Officer of the Month in 1987 and Detective of the Month in 1991, Major Siegel has also been the recipient of four Community Involvement awards, an Expert Marksmanship award, several Unit Citations, a COPPS award and an Administrative Excellence award. Major Siegel has received multiple Departmental Letters of Commendation, as well as numerous Letters of Recognition and Appreciation from community members. In addition to his departmental duties, he is the Program Manager for the South Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area’s (HIDTA) Joint Training Initiative and holds a seat on the Board of Directors of the Sun Credit Union.
