Captain Siegel
started his career with the Hollywood Police Department in 1984 as a
Community Service Officer. He was promoted to Police Officer in 1985
and held assignments in the Patrol Division, Street Crimes Unit and
the Detective Bureau. In 1992, he was promoted to Sergeant with
assignments in the Patrol Division, Community Oriented Policing, the
Detective Bureau and the Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics. He also
served as a supervisor on the SWAT team. In 1999, he was promoted to
Lieutenant and held positions in the Patrol Division, the Crime
Suppression Unit and Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics. He also served
as the Commander of the SWAT team, the Dignitary Protection team and
the Canine Unit. Promoted to Captain in 2002, he currently serves as
the Director for the South Broward Drug Enforcement Unit, a High
Intensity Drug Trafficking Area initiative.
Captain Siegel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Studies from
Barry University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from
Nova Southeastern University. He is a graduate of the 33rd Management
College of the Southwestern Law Enforcement Institute at the
University of Texas at Dallas. In 2006, Captain Siegel attended the
Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for
Police at Boston University.
Selected as Officer of the Month in 1987 and Detective of the Month in
1991, Captain Siegel has also been the recipient of four Community
Involvement awards, an Expert Marksmanship award, several Unit
Citations, a COPPS award and an Administrative Excellence award.
Captain Siegel has received multiple Departmental Letters of
Commendation, as well as numerous Letters of Recognition and
Appreciation from community members. In addition to his Departmental
duties, he has served on the Board of Directors of the Sun Credit
Union and currently sits on their Supervisory Committee.
